Job summary

A leading precious metals refining company in South Africa is seeking an experienced Operational Risk & Business Continuity Coordinator. This role will lead operational risk management efforts, oversee departmental operations, and ensure effective crisis management. Candidates should have a relevant degree, at least 3-5 years of experience in risk/auditing, and strong leadership skills. This permanent position offers a dynamic working environment with responsibilities across multiple functional areas.

  • Membership of IRMSA, SAICA, or CISA.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in Risk/Auditing.

Vacancy : Operational Risk & Business Continuity Coordinator Division : Risk Job Grade : C-Upper Job Type : Permanent Closing Date : 9 October

Salary : Salary and benefits will be negotiated in line with relevant experience and qualifications.

Purpose of the Position

Lead operational risk management activities and oversee departmental operations, with direct responsibility for team supervision and coordination across precious metals refining and smelting operations.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (Included but not Limited to)
  • Lead operational risk assessments across all Rand Refinery functional areas.
  • Implement and monitor risk mitigation strategies and controls.
  • Maintain enterprise risk registers and conduct regular risk reviews.
  • Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate risk reporting and dashboard development.
  • Support strategic risk planning and policy implementation.
  • Lead risk team and cross-functional project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support Senior Manager with strategic risk initiatives by preparing risk analysis for executive reporting, coordinating with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies and leading special projects and strategic risk assessments.
  • Manage the Risk Management system by implementing, high-level training and supporting other users within the company as per the required standards.
  • Draft the required risk governance reports from the system.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans for all functional areas.
  • Maintain crisis communication protocols and emergency contact databases.
  • Support emergency response coordination and business recovery activities.
  • Manage external audit relationships and coordination activities.
Minimum Requirements
  • Completed Matric qualification.
  • A NQF level 7 qualification or above qualification in Risk Management / Auditing / Accounting / Corporate Governance or Law / Compliance.
  • Membership off IRMSA or SAICA or CISA.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working experience in Risk / Auditing.
