Job summary

FEM is seeking an Operational Finance Manager to lead the operational finance function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across bank payments, journals, reconciliations, and reporting. The role also drives system improvements, automation, and audit management within the claims and premium processes.

The candidate should have a BCom with Honours and 7+ years in finance or CA(SA) with 4+ years post-articles, with strong IFRS and ERP experience.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of accounting principles
• Experience in financial services or insurance industry

Responsibilities

• Overseeing, reviewing, and approving bank payment releases with internal controls
• Preparing and reviewing monthly journals, trial balance reconciliations, and month-end processing
• Preparing and reviewing Income Statement and Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Preparing monthly management reports with variance analysis and commentary
• Preparing and reviewing quarterly statutory and regulatory reports
• Liaising with IT on system fixes, enhancements, and process automation
• Coordinating internal and external audit requests and closing audit findings timely
• Reviewing and verifying operational approvals in line with SOPs, legislation and internal controls
• Preparing and reviewing the Operational budget and assessing actual results to budget
• Leading, developing, and mentoring the operational finance team
• Supporting other projects payments-related assessments
