This position reports to : DC General Manager Purpose of this position : To manage the operations of the Distribution Centre on time, according to customer requirements, and within safety and quality regulations.
Responsibilities Develop and execute functional operational plans that support business strategy and enable the distribution center to meet budgets, goals, targets, and due dates Implement and maintain all required systems, processes, and procedures within the distribution center Develop standard operating procedures for all areas and monitor and enforce compliance Maximise the efficiency and productivity levels of the operation, ensure compliance with agreed standards, continuously seek to optimize processes, and find value opportunities for the division Manage and report on Service Level Agreements (including overseeing management information reports if relevant) Perform financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis of data for the distribution center Build effective, value-adding, transparent relationships with all stakeholders (customers, suppliers, and employees) through regular communication, reporting, and personal interaction Evaluate technology and capital requirements as determined by the tactical plan of the division Oversee the day-to-day activities of teams within the distribution center, scheduling employees where required, and ensuring optimal productivity Produce operational reports for management as required Ensure all employees are suitably qualified and trained for their positions Ensure that distribution services meet quality standards and customer requirements and that customer satisfaction levels meet agreed targets Ensure that all outbound items leave the distribution center within agreed time frames and that all inbound items are packed away correctly and within agreed time frames Ensure that all tender‑order lead times are adhered to Ensure that deliveries are on time as per agreed targets, improving processes where needed, and liaising with service providers to optimize processes Manage and report on the operational budget, managing costs to ensure that costs are in line with budget (eg packaging costs, transport costs) Ensure that stock discrepancies are minimized by overseeing and putting in place effective Stock Control processes Effective management of projects within the distribution centre by meeting requirements of projects and adhering to deadlines Identify potential risks that might affect the successful operation of the distribution centre, and put strategies and processes in place to mitigate these risks Continuously assess processes and systems, and look for innovative ways to improve or introduce new processes, systems, and methods that will assist the distribution centre in operating more effectively Stay abreast of, evaluate, and implement appropriate modern world‑class thinking in terms of distribution to ensure efficient, effective, and world‑class operations
