Job summary

The Weir Group seeks a Technician Assistant - Maintenance at our Alrode onsite facility to support the maintenance team with daily tasks. You will assist with basic welding, grinding and cutting, and conduct routine inspections to keep equipment running smoothly.

Responsibilities cover plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry areas, with strict SHE compliance. The role emphasizes teamwork, hands-on problem solving, and adherence to shift-based work. This is an onsite role.

Qualifications

• Matric, N3 or equivalent qualification.
• Semi-skilled welding ability with basic welding, grinding and cutting.
• Basic technical skills including use of hand and power tools.
• Understanding of plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance support: assist with general tasks in the maintenance department.
• Routine inspections of premises and equipment.
• Facility assistance: support event setups and breakdowns and diagnose issues.
• Safety compliance: adhere to SHE policies and zero harm expectations.
• Collaboration: work with artisans and maintenance team across trades.
