Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Onboard Food Service Staff to deliver exceptional meal and snack services to guests aboard luxury cruise ships. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality and committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, customer service, and efficiency in a fast-paced maritime environment. You will play a key role in creating a memorable onboard dining experience by ensuring timely, polite, and professional food service.
Serve meals, snacks, and beverages to passengers in dining rooms, buffets, lounges, and cabins.
Set up and clear tables according to service standards and guest requirements.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of all service areas, equipment, and utensils.
Take food and drink orders courteously and communicate them accurately to kitchen staff.
Provide dietary assistance or suggestions based on guest preferences and restrictions.
Assist with food preparation, plating, and refilling buffet stations when required.
Follow onboard safety, hygiene, and food handling protocols strictly.
Support other hospitality functions during peak service hours or special events.
Attend staff briefings, training sessions, and comply with shift schedules.
Resolve guest complaints promptly and professionally, escalating where necessary.
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality-related certification is a plus.
Proficient in verbal English; additional language skills are advantageous.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication abilities.
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure.
Positive attitude with a team-oriented approach.
1–2 years of experience in food service, hotel, restaurant, or cruise line settings preferred.
Freshers with a strong interest in hospitality and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.
Rotational shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
8–10 hours per day with scheduled breaks.
Contract-based shipboard assignments ranging from 3 to 9 months.
Knowledge of international food service standards and safety regulations.
Familiarity with basic dining etiquette and guest interaction protocol.
Physically fit with the stamina to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.
Adaptability to shipboard lifestyle and living arrangements in shared crew cabins.
Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
