Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Data Scientist to spearhead financial analytics in Centurion. This on-site role leads a team of data scientists, designs advanced ML models, and translates data insights into strategic decisions for a prominent financial entity.

You will collaborate with stakeholders, build robust data pipelines, and stay at the forefront of ML, AI, and big data technologies to deliver business impact.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in data science, with at least 2 years in a leadership or team lead capacity.
• Proven expertise in machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, deep learning) and statistical modeling.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and database systems (SQL, NoSQL).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and deployment of predictive models and ML algorithms for financial forecasting, risk assessment, and customer analytics.
• Manage and mentor a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and fostering collaboration.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify data opportunities to improve outcomes.
• Develop and maintain robust data pipelines and analytical infrastructure.
• Perform complex data analysis, identify trends, and derive actionable insights from large datasets.
• Stay current with cutting-edge research and technologies in data science and AI.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
