Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to drive growth through strategic, solution-focused sales. In this role, you will manage carrier capacity, rate negotiations and sales, collaborate on cargo planning with internal teams and external customers, and implement strategies to increase volume and strengthen partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Responsibilities:

  • Quote Management: Prepare and deliver accurate, competitive quotations within tight timelines, ensuring precision and professionalism.
  • Sales Conversion: Convert quotes into confirmed bookings by identifying customer needs and offering tailored, value-driven solutions to achieve high conversion rates.
  • Customer Relationship Development: Strengthen and expand relationships with existing clients to increase market share and revenue.
  • Customer Retention: Maintain strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction, drive repeat business, and encourage service renewals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal business units to enhance customer value and increase engagement through additional touchpoints.
  • Business Development: Proactively identify and secure additional cargo opportunities while cultivating new business leads.
  • Capacity Management: Monitor available capacity and secure forward bookings to optimize resource utilization.
  • Client Onboarding: Ensure a seamless and well-documented handover of new clients to the Operations team.
  • Operational Oversight: Strong Operation knowledge on carrier process and procedures is required to assist and guide operational teams with efficient query resolution.
Role Requirements
  • Experience – 3-5 years experience in sales support or customer service within the Carrier or Freight Forwarding industry. Experience in East and Southern Africa exports is an advantage
  • Operational Knowledge – strong operational foundation on carrier and country process, requirements and procedures
  • Trade Lane Knowledge – understanding of various trade lanes and networks
  • Track Record – Proven track record of making solid collections and managing accounts receivables.
  • Communication Skills – Excellent communication, negotiations & interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical Skills – Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify & resolve issues.
  • Software Proficiency – must be very comfortable with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Attention to detail – Strong attention to detail & organizational skills.
  • Adaptability – ability to perform under pressure within a fast pace, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Logistics industry knowledge: Familiarity with logistics, transportation and ocean freight industry practices and regulations.
  • Certifications: Any relevant logistics certifications in Logistics or Supply Chain management e.g. International trade/ BCom Supply Chain Management.
