Job description
Overview

A vacancy exists for a full‑time Occupational Medical Practitioner at a mine in the North West Province near Mooinooi. The successful candidate will be required to work 40 hours a week and be responsible for the management and provision of Occupational, Primary Healthcare, and Emergency Care services at the site.

Critical Outputs
  • To manage and provide quality professional Occupational, Primary Healthcare and Emergency Care services, at the Client’s
  • To maintain an Occupational Health Risk Management Programme at the Client’s site
  • To assist with on‑going development, implementation, and evaluation of the on‑site Occupational Health Programme.
  • To conduct health risk assessments, compile related feedback reports and assist with development and implementation of a risk based medical surveillance programme and matrix.
  • To conduct medical examinations, assessment of medical surveillance results and identification of health trends with feedback to Client on proactive or preventative measures.
  • To assist with work related clinical matters, fitness and return to work assessments and incapacity assessments and management.
  • To assist with injuries on duty and medical emergencies, also after hours (telephonic availability) Travel to the site with relevant cases.
  • To assume responsibility for the functional clinical and medical assessments and daily management of patients.
  • To advise the client on Occupational, Primary, General Health and legislative related matters.
  • To assist with monthly and quarterly feedback to Client, which include compiling or reports and facilitate feedback meetings.
  • To take responsibility for legislative reporting as required by the DMPR (Masoyise, Milestone, OH. And TB/HIV/NCDs
  • To facilitate the implementation of all related legislative requirements.
  • To assist with the updating of MCOPs, policies, procedures, and protocols, in line with current or changing legislation.
  • Legal appointment in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act. (Sec 13.3)
Requirements
  • MBChB and at least 5 years’ experience as Medical Practitioner with at least 3 years’ mining experience.
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health.
  • Current ATLS & ACLS certificates and registration
  • Registration with HPCSA and SASOM, DOH registered with HPCSA.
  • Knowledge of mining legislation and experience in Occupational Healthcare.
  • Dispensing Licence.
  • Own transport will be required.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Up to date CPD points
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  • Attending all training required.
