Job summary

A leading occupational health firm in Gauteng is seeking an Occupational Medical Practitioner to deliver high-quality health and wellness programmes. The role involves ensuring compliance with legislation, managing workplace injuries, and advising leadership on risk mitigation strategies. Ideal candidates will have an MBCHB Degree, HPCSA registration, and over 5 years of experience in occupational health, preferably within heavy-duty or chemical industries.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in occupational health, preferably in heavy-duty or chemical industries.
  • Disability Assessment and Management certification is required.
  • Valid Driver's Licence is essential.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

As our Occupational Medical Practitioner, you'll lead the delivery of high-quality, cost-efficient occupational health and wellness programmes that support the safety, wellbeing, and productivity of our workforce.

You'll play a critical role in ensuring compliance with health legislation, managing workplace injuries and illnesses, and advising leadership on health risk mitigation strategies.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment for internal vacancies across SAAT
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and workforce planning needs
  • Conduct interviews, shortlist candidates, and facilitate selection processes
  • Coordinate internal mobility and ensure fair, transparent hiring practices
  • Maintain accurate records and update recruitment systems
  • Support onboarding processes and handovers to HR operations
  • Assist with recruitment reporting and compliance tracking
Qualifications & Experience
  • MBCHB Degree
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine or Occupational Health
  • HPCSA Registration as a Medical Practitioner
  • Disability Assessment and Management certification
  • Valid Driver's Licence
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in occupational health, preferably in heavy-duty or chemical industries
Knowledge and Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of OHSA, COID, BCEA, Labour Relations Act, and Health Act
  • Intermediate understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with ISO Management Systems and aviation safety processes would be highly advantageous
  • Skilled in report writing, stakeholder engagement, and clinical decision-making
