The Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner will be responsible for providing an efficient occupational health service for employees, which includes promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare. Assisting with surveys, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and company policies, assist with counselling and referring of EAP candidates.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Occupational Health & Clinical Care – Conduct and document medical assessments (pre‑placement, annual, exit) and provide primary healthcare services, including diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of employee illnesses and injuries. Perform fitness assessments, spirometry, vision and hearing screening, and administer IV fluids as required.
- Wellness, Education & Employee Support – Deliver counselling, health education, and wellness initiatives to support employee wellbeing. Promote and manage participation in the EAP and LTD programmes, encourage wellness awareness, and foster employee engagement in occupational health activities.
- Administration & Compliance – Maintain accurate and confidential medical records, ensure proper documentation of injuries and sick certificates, and support legal and company compliance in all health‑related processes. Perform general administration, assist with statutory reporting, and manage costs within the Occupational Health Centre.
- Leadership & Collaboration – Supervise the Occupational Health Centre team, ensuring effective service delivery and resource management. Collaborate with management, internal departments, and external stakeholders to achieve occupational health objectives and maintain a safe, productive workplace.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum Experience – Must have +1 year as Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner.
- Primary Healthcare Experience – Diploma in General Nursing OR Diploma in Occupational Health with Registration at SANC as Registered Nurse.
- Qualifications – Certificate in Audiometry, Certificate in Vision Screening, Certificate in Spirometry, Certificate in Dispensing.
