Job description

Policy Development & Implementation : Outworx are looking for an OHS Officer to ensure workplace safety and health by implementing policies, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, providing training, and ensuring compliance with OHS legislation. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing safety programs, inspecting workplaces and equipment for hazards, managing emergency response, promoting a strong safety culture, and documenting findings and corrective actions.

They serve as a vital link between management and employees to foster a secure and healthy work environment. Experience or qualified in OHSA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and implement OHS policies, procedures, and safety programs to establish a safe working environment.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and conduct risk assessments to evaluate risks and recommend controls to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Compliance: Ensure the organization adheres to all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and legislation.
  • Workplace Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of workplaces and equipment to check for unsafe conditions and non‑compliance with safety measures.
  • Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, identify their causes, and propose improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees on safe work practices, hazard awareness, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promote Safety Culture: Foster a positive safety culture by raising awareness and encouraging employees to follow safety rules and best practices.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and managing emergency response plans and ensure emergency exits are clearly marked.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on safety performance, violations, and incidents to management and relevant authorities.
Essential Skills
  • Knowledge of Regulations: A strong understanding of OHS legislation and enforcement procedures.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to assess risks, interpret results from industrial hygiene surveys, and identify process bottlenecks.
  • munication: Excellent oral and written communication skills to advise, train, and liaise effectively with employees and management.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills to manage safety programs, documentation, and reports.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in common software like MS Word, Excel, and email for reporting and communication.
