Job summary

A premium private school in Johannesburg is seeking a dedicated school nurse to provide First Aid and medical support to students. The ideal candidate will be a registered nurse with excellent communication skills and previous school nursing experience. You will be responsible for health records, administering medication, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This position requires availability to work weekends and on-call duties.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a dispensing licence or be in the process of obtaining one.
  • Previous experience as a school nurse would be advantageous.
  • Driver’s licence and own vehicle required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide First Aid to staff and learners.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide First Aid to staff and learners.
  • Dispense medication to children as requested by parents.
  • Monitor immunisation records of learners.
  • Implement health and safety protocols.
  • Transport and accompany sick or injured children to medical facilities.
  • Maintain record keeping.
  • Submit medical insurance claims and organise payments to doctors and hospitals.
  • Conduct drug testing if required.
  • Provide counselling to learners and staff regarding medical issues.
  • Manage and order medical stock including invoicing.
  • Work hand‑in‑hand with the Boarding Team.
  • Required to reside on campus in designated accommodation provided.
  • Be responsible for night shift and on‑call duties during weekends when pupils are on campus.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks determined by the School Head/Line Manager.
