Job summary

IQVIA is expanding its Lifecycle Safety Medical team in Cape Town. The Associate Medical Safety Director will provide and maintain PV and risk management expertise across allocated product portfolios, contribute to signal management, safety reports, and regulatory responses.

The role requires a medical degree, about three years of clinical practice plus two in pharma, and strong knowledge of safety regulations and pharmacovigilance processes. A proactive, collaborative communicator is essential.

Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school.
• Around three years of clinical practice experience with two additional years in the pharmaceutical or associated industry.
• Knowledge of applicable regulations and guidelines for clinical research and pharmacovigilance.

Responsibilities

• Provide aggregate reviews of safety information to oversee a product's safety profile.
• Lead signal detection and analysis, including strategy, frequency and timing.
• Contribute to regulatory safety documents (EU/US reports and development risk plans).
• Review benefit-risk evaluations for trials and post-marketing activities.
• Support label development and safety documentation updates.
• Provide safety oversight for pharmacovigilance activities and governance meetings.
