Job Summary
Guest Service Agents are responsible for greeting and registering guests, providing outstanding guest service during their stay, and settling the guest's account upon completion of their stay.
Primary responsibilities include registering guests, making and modifying reservations, hotel operations, and concierge duties. They provide attentive, courteous, and efficient service to all guests prior to arrival and throughout their stay, while maximizing room revenue and occupancy.
Responsibilities
- Register guests and process reservations
- Operate the front desk computer system
- Handle telephone switchboard operations
- Provide concierge services and information to guests
- Welcome guests and maintain uniform and appearance standards
- Manage check‑in and check‑out procedures
- Maintain accurate records of guest transactions and follow credit policies
- Log and deliver packages, mail, and messages to guests and meeting rooms
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service
- Attend management meetings and perform any additional duties requested
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in related field preferred)
- Experience in a hotel or related field preferred
- Positive, upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service
- Strong multi‑tasking and detail‑oriented skills
- Ability to solve problems and handle internal and external customers effectively
- Excellent communication skills; ability to convey information clearly
- Ability to evaluate alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Resilience in stressful, high‑pressure situations
- Effective listening and clarification of issues raised by co‑workers and guests
- Basic financial literacy and arithmetic skills
- Ability to remain composed and objective while under pressure
Working Conditions / Environment
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions but not temperature changes
- Possible working during extreme heat or cold for periods longer than an hour
- Ambient noise levels requiring raised voice to be heard
- Exposure to vibration or mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, and high places
- Potential exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gasses, and poor ventilation
- Work in narrow aisles or passageways and exposure to infectious diseases
Physical Requirements
- Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, finger dexterity, feeling, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, vision, lifting (up to 10lbs) – various frequencies as applicable
