nGAP Lecturer Position: Applied Management

Salary negotiable up to R514,773.90 (TCOE). This is part of the Phase 10 New Generation of Academics Programme.

Minimum Requirements

• A Master’s Degree in Management Sciences.
• Driver’s licence.
• Aggregate of 70% in master’s academic record.
• Must be South African and below the age of 40.

• Registration for a PhD in Business Administration will be an added advantage.
• Published articles in DHET-accredited journals will be an added advantage.
• Good organisational and administrative skills.
• Experience in e‑learning and other LMS.
• Proficiency in research, writing and communications.

• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email.

Summary of Duties

• Competent preparation and delivery of learning material related to Applied Management students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Supervise, train and assess undergraduate students in Applied Management.
• Prepare/design and mark assignments, tests, and exams.
• Facilitate learning effectively through traditional and online platforms.
• Undertake research and publications, and be involved in community engagement.
• Work collegially with team members towards achieving departmental, faculty and institutional goals.
• Undertake any additional duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Conditions of Employment

1. Commit to full participation in the 8‑year New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP).
2. Commit to registering for Doctoral studies within 3 months of taking up the nGAP (if not already holding a doctorate).
3. Commit to work closely with the supervisor and mentor assigned to him/her, adhering to the study plan and milestones developed in collaboration with the supervisor.
4. Commit to participate in the SSAUF Development Programme, which may involve participation in at least one short course/module per year focused on research or teaching.
5. Agree that the candidate cannot accept any other state‑source funding that duplicates the purpose for which funding has already been allocated through the nGAP.
6. Agree that the candidate cannot accept any other funding for projects that conflict with obligations arising from participating in the nGAP.
7. Agree to inform the University and the Department of Higher Education and Training of any other funding that is offered before accepting such funding.
8. Agree that if the candidate leaves the nGAP position before completing the 8‑year programme, they will be obliged to reimburse the nGAP fund for the costs incurred up to the point of leaving.
9. Agree to participate in research, monitoring and evaluation activities focused on the nGAP, including an exit interview upon leaving or completing the programme.
