About the role

Were recruiting for a National Retail Key Accounts Manager to take ownership of specific national retail accounts for a leading seafood import, export and distribution business. The role is responsible for driving turnover, profitability and growth while maintaining strict Food Safety and Quality standards across allocated key accounts.

Youll manage strategic retail relationships, oversee stock and portfolio performance, and lead/supervise sales representatives to ensure that customers are serviced effectively at store and head office level.

Key responsibilities
  • Achieve budget, targets, turnover, profitability and growth across allocated Key Account customers.
  • Sell and promote the companys full product range into national retail accounts.
  • Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with buyers, demand planners, field specialists, merchandisers and operations teams.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of each key customers needs and objectives and propose solutions that meet these.
  • Ensure correct products and services are delivered to customers timeously.
  • Act as primary communication link between customers and internal teams.
  • Resolve customer issues and complaints promptly to maintain trust and retention.
  • Prepare regular progress, forecast and performance reports using key account metrics for internal teams and customers.
  • Manage, develop and maintain a positive internal and external team environment.
  • Provide weekly and monthly sales target feedback and ensure the team has the tools/training to achieve company objectives.
  • Develop sales growth strategies in line with the companys overall growth strategy.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly sales, margin, profitability, budget and cost variance reports.
  • Manage returned goods and process claims timeously.
  • Analyse competitor activity and report feedback to the Retail Sales Manager.
  • Provide accurate feedback on stock availability and shortages.
  • Manage your portfolio stock levels and ensure stock management targets are met.
  • Implement improvements to maximise efficiencies within your portfolio.
  • Continuously assess and grow the SKU range within your accounts.
  • Manage Key Account stock holding at depots and DCs, including replenishment planning, demand forecasting and correct stock levels.
  • Oversee and manage sales representatives to ensure they:
    • Service their customers effectively
    • Meet set budgets, targets and profitability expectations
    • Maintain strong relationships with all key retail stakeholders
Minimum qualifications
  • Matric.
  • Degree in Sales and/or Marketing essential.
  • SAP experience.
Experience required
  • 35 years FMCG Key Accounts Managementexperience.
  • Proven experience managing major national retail key accounts.
  • Experience in the seafood industry will be a strong advantage.
  • Must be able to travel locally as required.
