Job summary

Newrest in Johannesburg seeks a Procurement Manager to drive cost reduction and secure best price, rebates and quality from reputable suppliers. You will launch tenders, sign SLAs, ensure HACCP compliance, and coordinate with Newrest’s procurement network.

The candidate must have 5+ years in Purchasing/Procurement, a B‑Degree in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, and full MS Office competency. Driver’s license and own vehicle required. Food industry experience is a strong advantage.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Aggressive cost reduction contributions; secure best price, rebates and quality from reputable suppliers.
• Launch tenders on time as per the tender plan and ensure SLAs with suppliers during the tender period.
• Adhere to Newrest’s Best Practices (Toolbox) and coordinate with Procurement Managers in the network.
• Ensure SLAs have non-conformance clauses, linked to credits and on-time delivery.
• Be involved in regular stock takes and ensure stock take accuracy.
• Forecast purchasing and develop a demand purchasing strategy.
• Visit suppliers’ premises regularly to ensure HACCP compliance.
• Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal departments and customers on procurement matters.
• Identify potential suppliers, visit existing ones and maintain good relationships.
• Support BEE policy toward Enterprise & Supplier Development with HR.
• Develop and maintain procurement procedures and systems controls.
• Update the Purchase Book with new tender prices in a timely manner.
• Participate in stock takes/inventory when required.
• Keep supplier and purchase KPI’s up to date.
• Participate in operational meetings where procurement matters are discussed.
• Create a price fluctuation tracking food basket; CPI indicators.

Responsibilities

• Must have aggressive contribution to cost reduction.
• Must ensure that best price, rebates and quality is procured and secured from reputable suppliers.
• Must ensure that tenders are launched timeously as per business requirements, in line with the tender plan.
• Must ensure that the Service Level Agreements are signed with each supplier for the duration of the tender price agreement period.
• Must adhere to Newrest’s Best Practices (Toolbox).
• Must liaise/co-ordinate actions with fellow Procurement Managers in the Newrest network.
• Must ensure that the Service Level Agreements written for each supplier has non-conformance clauses, linked to the relevant credits, and on time delivery.
• Must be involved in regular stock takes, and further ensure the accuracy of the stock takes.
• Must be able to forecast purchasing.
• Must be able to have a demand purchasing strategy in place.
• Must visit suppliers’ premises regularly to ensure HACCP compliance.
• Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers to ensure effective communication regarding procurement related matters eg. substitutes, etc.
• Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them.
• Take into account the company’s BEE policy towards Enterprise & Supplier Development for maximum points on procurement. Work closely with HR on this.
• Develop and maintain procurement procedures and systems control.
• Ensure that the Purchase Book is updated with the new tender prices accurately and timeously.
• To participate in the stock take / inventory, when and where required.
• Ensure that supplier and purchase KPI’s are regularly kept updated.
• Participate in operational meetings where procurement matters are discussed.
• Create a food basket for price fluctuation tracking; CPI indicators.
