Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership in the development of the strategic plan, MTEF and annual budgets.
- Develop corporate plans, programmes and documents to secure long‑term sustainability and meet stakeholder needs.
- Represent Legal Aid SA on the Board and its committees, supporting governance and ensuring sound corporate governance.
- Lead the Management Committee and Management Executive Committee to execute short and long‑term plans.
- Execute enterprise risk management strategy, anti‑fraud and anti‑corruption strategies.
- Implement a sustainability strategy to meet the mandate in the short, medium and long term.
- Direct fiscal activities under PFMA, including budgeting, reporting and auditing.
- Foster high performance, employee engagement and authentic leadership at all levels.
- Define and position the Legal Aid SA brand and facilitate communication with clients and stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- Recognised university undergraduate degree (postgraduate qualifications an added benefit).
- More than 10 years of general management experience, with 5 years at an executive management level.
- Experience in strategic planning, business planning and operational plans with a focus on monitoring and reporting.
- Demonstrated people development approach and strong leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of the legal sector an advantage.
- In‑depth knowledge of leadership, management and how to implement within a complex business environment, preferably national footprint.
- Working knowledge of the Constitution, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, Legal Aid SA Act and other relevant statutes, and King IV Code of Corporate Governance.
- Ability to create “strategic integration” between Board, Executive and organisation.
- Ability to lead Executive Management to deliver strategic objectives.
- Detailed curriculum vitae reflecting the practical application of the position outputs and required competencies.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience in the legal sector will be an advantage. Ability to lead and develop people and a strong focus on high performance.
