About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a fully equipped, orderly, and aesthetically pleasing Montessori environment.
• Guide children in the use of Montessori materials and self-directed learning activities.
• Observe and record children's progress, developmental milestones, and areas of interest.
• Facilitate the development of practical life skills, sensorial exploration, language, mathematics, and cultural studies.
• Foster a positive and respectful classroom community where children learn to coexist and collaborate.
• Provide individual and small group lessons as needed.
• Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding their child's development and classroom activities.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all children within the classroom environment.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

Requirements

• A recognized Montessori teaching qualification for the Early Years (e.g., AMI, AMS) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working with young children in a Montessori setting.
• Deep understanding and practical application of the Montessori philosophy and pedagogy.
• Excellent observational skills and the ability to document children's progress.
• Strong classroom management skills that encourage independence and self-discipline.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for early childhood education.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated teaching team.
• Valid First Aid certification is preferred.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa.
