A staffing solutions company is seeking a Monitoring and Control Room Data Analyst to apply advanced analytics and machine learning to energy-related datasets. The role involves data collection, analysis, and reporting to influence operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have an Engineering degree and 3–5 years of experience in the energy sector, with knowledge of PI System and Power BI highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English and local languages are required.

Monitoring and Control Room Data Analyst Join to apply for the Monitoring and Control Room Data Analyst role at Quest Staffing Solutions.

Overview

Apply advanced analytics and machine learning to large energy-related datasets to provide insights for studies and reports.

Develop projects that enable a data-driven company, supporting enterprise reference architectures for analytics, machine learning, and data catalogue services.

Responsibilities

Collect and analyse data from generation assets to issue executive and technical reports containing operation & maintenance technical indicators.

Develop projects aimed at the continuous improvement of technical indicators (e.g., availability) in coordination with technical services and global competence centres.

Discuss, analyse and reconcile results obtained from indicator calculation processes with supervisors of generation centres.

Implement and monitor action plans to solve technical problems and processes of generation assets in coordination with technical services, competence centres and on-site supervision.

Monitor signals necessary to measure the operational efficiency solar and wind units.

Use software tools and applications (e.g., SAS, Jira, PI) for the management, control and reporting of performance indicators and unavailability events.

Draft operation & maintenance instructions / manuals related to indicator monitoring and reporting processes.

Provide analytical reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis with comments explaining main performance drivers and mitigating actions.

Assist with generation of external and internal LCR reports, as per organisational requirements.

Collaborate and assist Operational Performance & Improvement to calculate operational KPIs.

Notify plant staff and reference O&M specialists of data irregularities promptly.

Communicate any issues affecting Control Room systems and operational data quality to the Head of the LCR, operators and supervisors.

Manage data quality and availability of generating plants on PI system and other tools.

Qualifications

Graduate with an Engineering degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical or equivalent.

3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the Energy Sector.

Knowledge of PI system and Power BI highly advantageous.

Experience operating HV / MV equipment & systems and solar-wind components advantageous.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and local languages (e.g., Sesotho, Xhosa, isiZulu).

Desired Skills and Experience

Engineering Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical or related field.

3–5 years' experience in data analysis within the energy or renewable energy sector.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of PI System and Power BI (advantageous).

Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
