Job summary

South Deep Gold Mine is inviting applicants from host communities to enter a formal Learner Miner Learnership programme. Grade 12 (NQF 4) or N3 with two languages passed is required, along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a mining operation. Applicants must be medically fit, pass a heat tolerance test, and meet health and safety standards.

Selection emphasizes commitment to safety, teamwork and ongoing development within the Human Resource Development department at South Deep.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mining operation.
• Grade 12 (NQF 4) or equivalent qualification being an N3 (with two languages passed).
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test.

Responsibilities

• Apply safe work practices in accordance with site standards and procedures.
• Identify, report and elevate safety, health, environmental risks to supervisor.
• Assist with maintenance work and tool handling under supervision.
• Maintain good housekeeping in workshops and plant areas.
• Participate in risk assessments with the Artisan team.
• Run standby duties when required.
