Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for mining operations near Klerksdorp. You will develop and implement environmental management systems, obtain permits, monitor environmental performance, and engage with regulatory bodies and local communities.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering, with at least 7 years in environmental management (4+ in mining), and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science/Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental management, with at least 4 years in the mining or resources sector.
• Strong knowledge of environmental impact assessment (EIA) processes and permitting.
• Experience in developing and implementing Environmental Management Systems (EMS) such as ISO 14001.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management plans for mining operations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, and regulations.
• Oversee environmental monitoring programs, including water, air, and land quality assessments.
• Manage waste management, rehabilitation, and biodiversity conservation efforts.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders on environmental matters.
