Job summary

Glencore in Johannesburg is seeking a hands-on mining supervisor to oversee underground blasting, reef mapping, and daily production activities. You will enforce safety standards, plan and coordinate tasks, and lead a crew to meet targets.

The role requires strong field leadership, risk assessment, and clear communication of mining plans to the crew. Experience in underground operations and adherence to geological reports are essential.

Responsibilities

• Safe blasting of underground excavations
• Development of waste and reef footprint
• Ensuring a consistent mining cycle for blasting cleaning and support of working areas
• Enforcement of mine standards and procedures, ensuring that the workplaces are safe
• Mining operation (production) – Conduct daily entry examinations, risk assessments, marking off support
• Identify the reef band and mark the face as per geological reports, and charge up the face
• Plan and coordinate mine activities in line with targets and objectives and stick to a workable productive mining cycle
• Personal Management and Crew control – Supervision of team and management of performance
• Communication of mining plans and allocation of responsibilities to the crew
