The Mine Overseer is responsible for managing and directing the various activities within a specified section of the mine. Ensures specified targets are met and allocated resources are used effectively. The incumbent selects and appoints personnel and exercises safety control measures. This position reports to the Mining Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining Health and Safety by ensuring that standards are adhered to and improved upon in the section.
- Manage the operation of the section by allocating work plans to Shift Supervisors.
- Establish production controls to ensure optimum utilization of production plans.
- Knowledge of Trackless Mobile Machinery
- Knowledge of factors that drive production output
- Production planning
- General water and air reticulation network
- Roadway maintenance philosophy
- Labour control and management
- Experience related to underground mining
- Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures for underground mining
Qualifications
- National Senior Certificate/ Grade 12
- BlastingCertificateORNationalCertificateRockbreakingUndergroundHardRockLevel3
- SupervisoryDevelopmentProgramme (SDP)/LeadershipDevelopmentProgramme(LDP)OR equivalent is advantageous
Experience
- A minimum of 10 - 15 years' experience in the mining industry, with a minimum of 5 years at mine overseer level
- Disciplined and have a high moral attitude
- Trackless Mining Experience (Bord & Pillar)
