Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental/mining engineering with mine closure experience
  • 3–5 years in mine closure planning or related environmental consulting
  • Experience in landform modelling and rehabilitation design
  • Proficiency in CAD, GIS, earthworks modelling
  • Professional registration advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license and passport

Responsibilities

  • Prepare mine closure cost estimates and closure plans
  • Develop landform models and designs for waste rock dumps, tailings, pits and disturbed areas
  • Generate terrain models and GIS data for closure planning and costing
  • Prepare technical reports for closure, decommissioning and regulatory approvals
  • Monitor rehabilitation performance and provide technical guidance to clients
  • Manage closure-related project activities to deliver on time and within budget
  • Conduct fieldwork with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders

Weare looking for a Mine Closure Consultant with experience in mine closureplanning and mine closure cost assessments to join our team supporting projectsin Tanzania and across East Africa. Landform modelling and rehabilitationdesign experience will also be beneficial. This role offers the opportunity tocontribute to practical, responsible and regulatory-compliant mine closuresolutions across a diverse portfolio of mining projects.

Thesuccessful candidate will develop mine closure strategies and liabilityassessments, support closure, decommissioning and rehabilitation projects, andcontribute to practical and sustainable closure landforms. The role combinestechnical delivery, project management and collaboration with multidisciplinaryspecialists, clients and regulatory authorities. Key Responsibilities
  • Conductand develop mine closure cost estimates, mine closure plans, closure andrehabilitation strategies and post-closure land-use planning.
  • Developor contribute to practical closure landform models and designs for waste rockdumps, tailings facilities, pits, stockpiles and other disturbed areas,considering drainage, slopes, erosion control, constructability and long-termstability.
  • Generateand interpret terrain models, survey data, engineering designs, GISinformation, cut-and-fill assessments and earthworks quantities for closureplanning and costing.
  • Preparetechnical reports and input for closure, decommissioning, environmental authorisationand regulatory approval processes, including the regulatory engagement whereapplicable.
  • Monitorand evaluate closure and rehabilitation performance and provide technicalguidance to clients.
  • Manageclosure-related project activities to ensure delivery on time, within budgetand to quality standards.
  • Conductfieldwork and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and regulatoryauthorities.
Requirements
  • Experiencein mine closure planning, closure cost estimates, rehabilitation design andpost-mining land-use planning.
  • Practicalexperience in landform modelling, terrain design or earthworks modelling withinmining, mine closure, civil engineering or environmental consulting will bebeneficial.
  • Proficiencyin relevant modelling, design and spatial software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD,ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper or similar; mine planning software would beadvantageous.
  • Abilityto interpret engineering designs, survey information, mine plans and spatialdata, and develop earthworks quantities and design inputs.
  • Understandingdrainage, erosion and sediment control, slope shaping, material balances,practical rehabilitation techniques and legal and best practice mine closurerequirements.
  • Strongtechnical report writing, numerical and analytical ability, with willingness toundertake fieldwork at mining operations and remote locations.
  • Trainingor demonstrated competence in CAD, GIS, spatial analysis, terrain modelling ormine planning software would be advantageous
  • Professional registration or membership with arecognised professional body (e.g., Engineers Registration Board, NEMC, orequivalent international accreditation) would be advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.

  • Strong numerical,analytical and problem-solving ability, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Clear technical writing andconfident verbal and written communication.
  • Effective project, time andpriority management across multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Ability to workindependently, collaborate across disciplines and build trusted clients andstakeholder relationships.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’sdegree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering,Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science another relevant technicaldiscipline, with demonstrated experience in mine closure planning andrehabilitation design.
Experience
  • Three to five years of inmine closure planning rehabilitation techniques or related environmentalconsulting.
  • Demonstrated experiencesupporting or developing mine closure plans and closure cost assessments.
  • Practical experience inlandform modelling, rehabilitation design or earthworks design would bebeneficial.
  • Experience in a consultingenvironment and on African or international mining projects would beadvantageous.
