They are seeking a Mine Closure and Rehabilitation Specialist to join their team in KwaZulu-Natal. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mine closure and rehabilitation activities at our mining operations. This role will involve working closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental consultants, and local communities, to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement mine closure and rehabilitation plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to assess the progress of rehabilitation activities and identify any potential issues.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental consultants, and local communities, to ensure alignment on closure and rehabilitation strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on best practices for mine closure and rehabilitation activities.
  • Monitor and report on the environmental impact of mining operations, including groundwater quality, soil erosion, and vegetation growth.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs for employees on mine closure and rehabilitation practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine closure and rehabilitation within the mining industry.
