Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in Centurion is seeking a qualified Millwright / Fitter and Turner. The role involves assembling, grinding, and shaping metal parts, requiring hands-on mechanical skills and experience, especially in the automotive and steel sectors. Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience with a Fitter Trade Certificate. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and experience with machinery is essential.

Qualifications

  • 2 - 3 years’ working experience as a Fitter.
  • Experience within the Automotive / Steel Manufacturing industry will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, grind and shape metal parts to fabricate machines.

Our client is a stainless steel manufacturer based in Centurion and they are looking for a qualified Millwright / Fitter and Turner to join their team as soon as possible.

Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, grind and shape metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment, manufacture and repair metal structures, tools, and equipment as required.
Educational Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent
  • Fitter Trade Certificate
Experience and Skills Required
  • 2 – 3 years’ working experience as a Fitter
  • Experience within the Automotive / Steel Manufacturing industry will be an advantage
  • Working Shifts and overtime
  • Must be able to identify different types of bearings, must know how to determine the size of the bearing. How it works, how to install and remove the bearing and must be able to identify different loads that a bearing can take.
  • Must know the difference in Hydraulics and Pneumatics, the cylinders, the seals, assembly, the fittings, the valves and operation.
  • Testing of valves as well as the cylinders
  • Must have worked on pumps. Overhaul pumps and install mechanical seals, and do the alignment between the pumps and motors
  • Be able to do mechanical timing settings moving of cams stroke arms and drive gears
  • Stripping of mechanical components overhauling and assembling units again
  • Read and understand engineering drawings.
  • Must be able to do hand drawings
  • Must be able to use the lathe as well as milling machine
