What you’ll be doing
Primary Function – Maintenance Execution & Breakdown Resolution
- Plan and execute routine servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance on electro-mechanical plant equipment timeously and cost-effectively.
- Attend to breakdowns promptly, prioritize urgent jobs, and perform accurate fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure optimal operation, monitoring, and condition reporting of all electro-mechanical plant assets.
Primary Function – Systems, Assets & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to the Maintenance Information System (Service Manager) and maintain an up-to-date, clearly marked Asset Register.
- Enforce strict Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act standards, ISO system requirements, and high housekeeping standards.
- Assist with specifications, equipment sourcing, quality control, pricing, and execution for new mechanical and electrical installations.
Secondary Function – Inventory, Control & Reporting
- Ensure specified, approved, and contractually required stock and spare parts levels are maintained.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, interpret operational data, and prepare plant condition reports.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and apply sound human resource and control procedures.
What you’ll need
- Education / Trade: Qualified Millwright or Electrician with a recognized Section 13 or Section 26D Trade Certificate (Red Seal).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience in the maintenance and repair of large electro-mechanical installations (water treatment or heavy industrial plant experience preferred).
- Technical Competencies: Strong electrical troubleshooting background; Three-Phase Wireman’s License (or actively studying towards) and working knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, VSDs, and field instrumentation are strong advantages.
- Licensing & Mobility: Valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle (essential).
- Background & Medical: Clean criminal record and medically fit to work in an industrial plant environment (including confined spaces, working at heights, and shift/standby requirements).
- Location: Residing in or within reasonable commuting distance of the Eastern Cape – Port Alfred.
