Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Support qualified Millwrights and Technicians in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections.

Millwright Apprentice wanted to join our team in Alberton Alrode South JHB - Eastern Suburbs on a temporary basis. Gain hands‑on experience in maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment under supervision.

Job Title: Millwright Apprentice

Report to: Operations

Seniority Level: Mid-Career (2 - 4 yrs exp)

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Purpose

To support the maintenance, installation, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment under the supervision of qualified artisans / technicians, while gaining practical skills and knowledge required to become a competent Millwright.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Support qualified Millwrights and Technicians in troubleshooting equipment breakdowns.
  • Operate basic workshop machinery and hand tools under supervision.
  • Read and interpret basic technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks and inspections.
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Attend training (theory and practical) as part of apprenticeship requirements.
  • Follow all company safety, health, and environmental policies.
Qualifications & Experience
  • N2 / N3 Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (minimum requirement).
  • Matric with Maths and Science (advantageous).
  • Previous exposure to a workshop or industrial environment (advantageous).
  • For Technician role : Trade Test Millwright or equivalent qualification preferred, with relevant hands‑on experience.
