Job summary

Greys Recruitment is seeking a plant-based Millwright for a fast-moving processing plant in KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on maintaining pumps, gearboxes, mills, steam cookers, VSDs and other plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, and support continuous improvement with production to minimise downtime and improve plant reliability. Experience in FMCG is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ relevant experience within a processing plant environment.
• Knowledge of legislative and statutory requirements in SA.
• Experience working in a FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of equipment and machinery.
• FCCS 22000 ISO 14001 OHSAS 18001 certificate/s advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Repairs & fault finding – maintain and repair pumps, gearboxes, mills, steam cookers, VSDs, instruments, pressure equipment and associated plant machinery.
• Conduct preventative and planned maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out effective repairs.
• Monitor plant equipment and identify potential failures or maintenance requirements.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of plant equipment.
• Ensure machinery and equipment operate safely and efficiently.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to improve plant reliability and performance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report on equipment faults and repairs.
• Work closely with production and other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient plant operation.
• Participate in the Food Safety Team and comply with applicable food safety, quality, health and safety requirements.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company procedures and safety standards.

We are specifically seeking a plant-based Millwright, not a general maintenance technician.

Candidates currently or previously employed within food manufacturing, rendering plants, meat/poultry processing, FMCG production or other continuous processing environments are encouraged to apply.

Location : Hammersdale / Cato Ridge Area
