Job summary

Philip Morris International is seeking a skilled Millwright to maintain, repair and improve production equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. You will support installation, commissioning, and optimization of machinery, while driving continuous improvement and safety.

The role requires 3–5 years in heavy industry, a Millwright trade certificate, and an NQF Level 4 engineering-related qualification. SAP knowledge is essential for maintenance planning and parts management.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 4 engineering qualification or equivalent.
• Millwright Trade Certificate is required.
• 3–5 years' experience in heavy industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Modify and configure equipment to improve reliability, efficiency, and production performance.
• Support installation, commissioning, and optimization of new and modified machinery.
• Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to implement technical solutions.
• Participate in root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent failures.
• Assist in developing and executing preventive and planned maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
• Update plant schematics and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Utilize SAP to manage maintenance activities, spare parts, and information.
• Support plant shutdowns, maintenance projects, and engineering initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with quality, environmental, health and safety requirements.

What We're Looking For

• NQF Level 4 qualification in Engineering Studies or a related field.
• Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate.
• 3-5 years' experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated equipment.
• Working knowledge of SAP maintenance systems.
• Strong fault-finding, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
