Principal Accountabilities
To manage the day-to-day operations of the Midibus Feeder Distribution Service (MFDS) and Buses (MEX) within the Gautrain system.
Specific Responsibilities
- Management of SLA and sub-contractors.
- Facilitate seamless start of the day of shift. Review or compile relevant checklist and scorecards pertaining to the supervision of the DFDS (Bus and shuttle).
- Manage the day-to-day bus and shuttle feeder operations and ensure that the safety, quality, and performance according to the contract / SLA are achieved within the Gautrain environment.
- Ensure that stations and bus stops have the approved timetables.
- Supervise the contract budget as stipulated in the PVN and any extensions / variations on the contract.
- Coordinate and assist the contractors with shift planning monitoring and management of degraded mode (if any).
- Supervise the allocation of resources by contractors and personnel to cover all routes as per SLA.
- Manage and support SHEQ related concerns and materials.
- Manage and monitor passengers dispatch and movement on platforms, station and on routes.
- Assist with Cartrack vehicle on route monitoring, driver behavior and safety of passengers.
- Assist the contractor and GMA with route licensing and analysis.
- Build a work relationship with all stake holders parties involved in the SLA's. (MEX, BCC, GMA, Angelo Kater and local Police).
- Compile and Review all the monthly reporting: Bus / Midibus KM's Audit, Bus / Midibus Operations Report, Internal Bus Operations Report, and Un-allocated Trips Report.
- Attend all the meetings with third parties such as BSPC Meeting, HLLMC Meeting, etc.
- Act as the DFDS (bus and shuttle) Co-Ordinator during degraded mode.
Route analysis and planning
- Plan and drive new route based on GMA needs analysis systems and survey.
- Drive new routes in various time period to formulate route run times.
- Formulate Route timetable for the seamless movement of passengers from and to station of origin.
- Liaise with communication manager to facilitate any changes in passenger timetables and changes in routes and communicate at station and route levels.
Marketing and resource need analysis
- Review and on-board passenger and passenger monitor Live vision cameras.
- Review and analyze previous day passenger statistics documents, containing the numbers of passenger transported, Trips run times, cancellations, and reasons thereof.
- Compile previous day passenger movement reporting for line manager.
- Facilitate seamless complaint management process with the contractor and assists in implementing ratification mechanism to alleviate future recurrence.
- Guide and lead in passengers' information leaflets and timetables.
- Co-ordinate's signage needs for the unit and compile a report to marketing team.
- Inspect Gautrain branding logos and align them with sets standards.
Fleet management
- Inspect any reported vehicle condition challenges of all Midibuses and Buses under transport unit.
- Determine infrastructure requirements and fleet specification.
- Inspect Road worthy certificates, Licensing discs of all Midibuses and Buses compliance reports on regular basics.
- Monitoring vehicle capacity requirement and compliance by the contractor.
- Inspect vehicle conditions on ad-hoc basic and compile a report of all non-conformances.
- Verification of vehicle insurance and payment by contractor on quarterly basics and report to the BCC and GMA.
Reporting
- Monitor the contractor responsibilities aligned to specification and champion contractor's engagement meetings.
- Verify availability and liaise with contractors' supervisors / dispatchers on operations challenges and provide support.
- Support admin staff with ticketing, passenger queries and complains.
- Compile and Monitor Key performance Indicators derived from various monitoring systems.
- Monitor and respond to email communication and cascading urgent matters and operation irregularities to management and contractors.
Ad hoc basis
- Drive all MFDS and Bus routes verifying and auditing physical stops along routes.
- Support contractors with marketing material aligned to routes and area of operations.
- Inspect and report all faults on Midibuses and Buses and all regulatory compliance (Road worthy, validity of Vehicle discs).
- Report any damages to Midibuses and Buses to the relevant committees, (e.g. HLLMC, MEX Exco) on monthly basics.

Background Requirements
Educational Level
National diploma or Degree in Transport Management / Logistics / Communications (or any related diploma / degree)
Knowledge of National Roads Transport Act and the Rail Safety (will be an advantage)
Computer literacy skills (High efficiency in excel)
Valid driver's license
Fluent in English (Added advantage to know other African languages)
Years of Experience: 3 – 5 years supervisory role
Compétences
