BOC has an exciting position for an suitable candidate to join our dynamic team. MissionPrincipal AccountabilitiesTo manage the day-to-day operations of the Midibus Feeder Distribution Service (MFDS) and Buses (MEX) within the Gautrain system.
Specific Responsibilities include management of SLA and subcontractors: facilitating a seamless start of the day shift, reviewing or compiling relevant checklists and scorecards for supervision of the DFDS (Bus and shuttle). Managing day‑to‑day bus and shuttle feeder operations to ensure safety, quality, and performance according to the contract/SLA within the Gautrain environment, ensuring stations and bus stops have approved timetables, supervising the contract budget as stipulated in the PVN, coordinating and assisting contractors with shift planning and monitoring degraded mode where applicable. Supervising allocation of resources by contractors and personnel to cover all routes as per SLA, managing and supporting SHEQ related concerns and materials, monitoring passenger dispatch and movement on platforms, at stations, and on routes, assisting with Cartrack vehicle on‑route monitoring, driver behaviour and safety, helping the contractor and GMA with route licensing and analysis, and building a work relationship with all stakeholders including MEX, BCC, GMA, Angelo Kater and local Police.
Compile and review all monthly reporting: Bus / Midibus KM’s Audit, Bus / Midibus Operations Report, Internal Bus Operations Report, and Un‑allocated Trips Report. Attend all meetings with third parties such as BSPC Meeting, HLLMC Meeting, etc. Act as the DFDS (bus and shuttle) Coordinator during degraded mode. Conduct route analysis and planning, plan and drive new routes based on GMA needs analysis systems and survey, drive new routes in various time periods to formulate run times, formulate route timetable for seamless movement of passengers from and to station of origin, liaise with communication manager to facilitate timetable changes, review and conduct live vision camera passenger monitoring, analyse previous day passenger statistics documents (numbers of passengers transported, trip run times, cancellations, and reasons), pile previous day passenger movement reporting for line manager, facilitate complaint management with contractor and assist in implementing ratification mechanisms to mitigate recurrence. Guide and lead in creation of passenger information leaflets and timetables, coordinate signage needs, inspect Gautrain branding logos and align them with set standards. Conduct fleet management: inspect vehicle condition challenges, determine infrastructure requirements, inspect road‑worthy certificates, licensing discs, monitor capacity compliance, compile reports of non‑conformances, verify vehicle insurance and payments quarterly, report to BCC and GMA. Monitor contractor responsibilities, verify availability of supervisors/dispatchers, support admin staff with ticketing, passenger queries and complaints, monitor KPIs, respond to email communications, cascade urgent matters and operational irregularities to management and contractors. Ad‑hoc duties include driving all MFDS and Bus routes to verify and audit physical stops along routes, supporting contractors with marketing materials, inspecting and reporting all faults and regulatory compliance (road‑worthy, vehicle disc validity), and reporting any damages to relevant committees on a monthly basis.
