Watershed Consulting in Mpumalanga seeks a Senior Metallurgist to lead metallurgical investigations and design testing programmes. You will operate metallurgical microscopes, analyse results, and prepare reports for plant and customer processing teams.

The role requires a BSc or BEng in Metallurgy with 6–8 years of relevant experience, knowledge of steel products, and experience in large-scale manufacturing, quality assurance, and project management. R900k CTC annually.

Formación

• BSc or BEng in Metallurgy with 6-8 years of relevant experience.
• Knowledge of steel/stainless steel products and/or smelting/refining of other materials.
• Working experience in heavy/large manufacturing processes related to steel manufacturing, quality assurance and control, and project management.
• Experience with POLC principles and QCDSM.

• Operate metallurgical microscopes, image analysis software, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and plant software (e.g., P6). Supervisory responsibilities included.
• Design testing programmes.
• Technical writing, analysis, and interpretation of metallurgical test results and relating to plant and/or customer processing and operation - metallurgical microscopes (scanning electron and optical) are everyday tools used in all investigations.
• Database systems are used to gather plant data to assist in investigations.
• Computer skills are required to analyse data and compile reports.
• Analytical and interpretive skills are required to determine causes of process or end-use problems, and project planning.
