Job summary

A healthcare organization in Pretoria is seeking a qualified candidate for a role within the Oral Pathology and Oral Biology directorate. This position requires a 3-year Biomedical Technology diploma or a 4-year degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences specialized in Histology, along with HPCSA registration. The successful applicant will engage in specimen processing and maintenance of quality control standards. This role offers a salary package of R397 233 per annum plus benefits.

Requirements
  • The candidate must have a 3-year Biomedical Technology diploma/4-year Medical Laboratory Scientist degree in Histology. Current registration with the HPCSA in Histology. Demonstrable post-registration experience in specimen receiving and grossing, microtome sectioning, theatre frozen-sectioning, routine and special staining techniques. 3-5 years’ Histology experience, and specifically, with experience in molecular techniques, including IHC, FISH and ISH.
Duties
  • Performance of ongoing equipment maintenance in line with quality control standards, adherence to infection control measures, correct disposal of bio-hazardous waste and participation in the preparation process for internal and external audits. Specimen receiving and grossing, microtome sectioning, theatre frozen-sectioning, routine and special staining techniques. The candidate is expected to participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to continuously update knowledge and skills as well as comply with professional registration requirements.
