Job summary

South African National Blood Service in Soweto is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join its diagnostic laboratory team, performing a wide range of tests to support accurate diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention using sophisticated instrumentation.

This on-site role requires meticulous quality control and adherence to safety standards, with 3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience and HPCSA registration eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, or related field.
• Registered or eligible for HPCSA registration.
• 3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience.
• Proficiency in performing a wide array of laboratory tests and operating various laboratory instruments.
• Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and safety standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Ensure the quality and accuracy of test results through quality control procedures.
• Prepare specimens for analysis and document test results accurately in the LIS.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide essential diagnostic information.
