Job summary

Requirements :

• Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Practice (Medical Practitioner). Proof of current registration with the HPCSA from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. One year experience in a Paediatric Surgery Unit and successful completion of the CMSA Surgical Primary examinations FCS (SA) will be added advantage.

Duties :

• The successful candidate would be expected to work as a medical officer in the paediatric surgery unit at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. The person would be required to work overtime and weekends as well, according to the needs of the unit. The duties would involve clinical work in the wards, outpatient department and theatre. The applicant will be expected to actively participate in the academic program of the unit and research experience will be a definite advantage.
