Job description
Main purpose of the job :
  • To provide comprehensive medical care / clinical support to participants in HIV Prevention (and similar) clinical trials at the PHRU
Location :
  • PHRU, Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto
Key performance areas :
  • Provision of clinical care to patients and participants
  • Accurate and comprehensive medical record keeping
  • Management of patient / participant flow in the clinic
  • Clinical trial conduct as delegated by the principal investigator
Required minimum education and training :
  • Medical Degree - MBChB / MBBCH
Professional Body Registration :
  • HPCSA registration
Required minimum work experience :
  • At least two-years experience in a clinical environment (can be inclusive of internship / community service time)
  • Must be able to start work immediately (preferably)
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities :
  • Must be registered with MPS
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subjects Protection (or equivalent) certification
  • Research experienced with experience in HIV Prevention trials, HIV treatment and general patient care
  • Empathy and understanding
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
