Introduction

Our client, a leading consulting engineering firm, is seeking a Registered and experienced Mechanical Engineer / Technologist to join their Mechanical Engineering Department based in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership ability, and practical experience within the mechanical engineering sector. This role requires a professional who is not only technically proficient but also an effective communicator, capable of engaging confidently with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams. Please note: Only candidates who are professionally registered will be considered.

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage Mechanical engineering projects, ensuring quality, compliance, and adherence to budgets and timelines.
• Provide design leadership to deliver innovative engineering solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, helping to develop their skills and support their professional growth.
• Independently manage multiple projects under the guidance of the Director, ensuring project goals are met.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and client satisfaction.
• Travel to project sites and client meetings will be required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Requirements:

• B.Tech / B.Eng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of 8 years' project design and site experience in the Mechanical engineering field with specific experience in designing Air-conditioning and ventilation systems, Wet Services, and Fire-fighting systems.
• Must be professionally registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer / Technologist.
• Expert proficiency in Revit & Autocad software is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee design activities for engineering projects from start to finish.
• Proven ability to independently manage multiple projects and collaborate with senior management to ensure successful outcomes.
• Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with a positive and collaborative approach to working with others.
• Ability and willingness to travel for work-related duties, including site visits and client meetings.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining quality standards.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver's license.
