Job description

To fulfil the role as the Mechanical Engineer through displaying thorough understanding of mechanical engineering projects within the built environment consulting envelope, displaying clear intent in achieving unique and probable solutions. To clearly identify Client needs and systematically develop the required deliverables timeously throughout all the design phases and control workflow with a broad understanding of the other design engineering disciplines involved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning (HVAC) design projects
  • Perform Client needs analysis
  • Conduct site assessments / surveys and status quo reports
  • Compile maintenance and repair reports
  • Produce heat load calculations
  • Propose viable concepts
  • Identify the most suitable system to be used based on Client requirements
  • Design according to the applicable Standards
  • Consult catalogues, OEMs / suppliers for the latest available system components
  • Perform ducting design work and related equipment selection
  • Assist with Fire Protection, Fire Detection and Fire Suppression design projects
  • Assist in compiling Rational Fire design reports
  • Assist with Wet Services design projects
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for water reticulations
  • Produce drawings for all project phases with the aid of in-house draftsman
  • Compile engineering design reports for all project phases
  • Compile tender and procurement documentation, Bills of Quantities, Budget Estimates, Scope of works and Specification documents.
  • Peer review of reports and drawings (ISO 9001 requirement)
  • Construction monitoring and supervision
  • Provide mechanical design for a range of projects as per required
  • Communicate effectively and understand the implications thereof
  • Make full use of our Server / Cloud service as part of the Quality Management System
  • Attend internal and external meetings and site inspections
  • Responsible for project and team administrative duties
  • Work directly with clients and other professionals with minimal supervision
  • Work closely with other professionals and be able to co-ordinate work from engineers from other departments
  • Responsible for managing project team and ensuring work is delivered on time and on budget.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum 3-5 years experience.

QUALIFICATION

BEng / BSc in Mechanical Engineering

SKILLS

General :
  • Must have a valid Code B drivers licence.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to operate MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook.
  • Must be familiar with AutoCAD / Revit software.
  • Must be fluent in English.
