Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join its automotive division in Cape Town. The role focuses on design, analysis, and testing of automotive components in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will collaborate with a team of experts to push automotive technology boundaries, develop CAD/CAE models, validate designs with CFD/FEA, and support production-ready solutions in the Western Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience, automotive focus preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS or similar).
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain or chassis design.
• Experience with prototype development and validation methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems and components for automotive applications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and performance targets.
• Perform detailed CFD and FEA to validate designs.
• Conduct testing and validation of prototypes, analyzing results and implementing design improvements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize for production in Cape Town.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide engineering support throughout the product lifecycle.
