A leading engineering firm is seeking an experienced engineer to work on HVAC design and fire suppression systems. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, with 3-6+ years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include designing sprinkler systems, preparing fire plans, and performance-based engineering. Mining industry experience preferred, and willingness to travel is required.
BSc (Eng) / BEng / BTech degree in Mechanical / Civil Engineering
ECSA registered as Candidate or Professional (PrEng) Engineer or Pr Tech Eng (Technologist)
3-6+ years of relevant experience with the below :
Mining industry experience recommended but not essential
HVAC design and Fire plan preparation and submission
Sprinkler system design and implementation, Sprinkler hydraulics knowledge preferred
Knowledge of international sprinkler codes such as NFPA & FM Global will be advantageous.
Performance based engineering (hands on experience with the actual engineering side of things) essential
Well-versed with engineering design software.
Knowledge of hydraulic designs (pump and tank sizing) as well as smoke control design (Fire growth and size, Heat Release Rate, smoke generation and smoke fill rate calculations) coupled with ASET and RSET evaluations.
Own transport, valid drivers license and willingness to travel to clients when fit and willing to work on mining and construction sites
