Job summary

A leading engineering services company in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a skilled technician to install, fit, test, and maintain mechanical systems. The role involves troubleshooting issues and ensuring customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has experience in the water utility industry and strong health & safety awareness. Full-time permanent position offered.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse job cards to determine job status, work authorisations/limitations.
  • Test mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems.
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment noting parts identification and condition.
  • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical assemblies.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.

Skills

Experience of customer site work preferably in the Water Utility industry
Excellent health & safety knowledge and application
Well organised with the ability to multitask

Knowlton & Newman are part of the Rubix Group. We are a well-established 24/7 electrical and mechanical engineering services Company. We have a wide customer base and typically repair, overhaul and install pumps, motors and gearboxes.

The purpose of the role is to install, fit, test, assemble, commission, maintain and repair mechanical systems and equipment. Also, to carry out work to the satisfaction of the customer and the management team.

Key Responsibilities
Main Tasks and Deliverables
  • Analyse job cards to determine job status, work authorisations/limitations, estimate, description of problems and/or expected serviceability.
  • Test mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems.
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration and condition.
  • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical assemblies.
  • Requisition of replacement parts.
  • Verify repairs using start-up testing procedures.
  • Retest reassembled mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Operate specialised equipment.
  • Work on Customer sites as well as in the workshop.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Follow all Company Health & Safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Keep work area neat and tidy.
  • Carry out any other reasonable request from the management team.
