Mechanical Engineer (12 Month Contract)

- They are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with 3+ years of experience working within major EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction & Management) environments.
- The successful candidate will bring strong mechanical engineering expertise to multidisciplinary projects, contributing to design development, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and supporting project delivery from concept through commissioning.
- This role is based at the client’s office in Irene, Centurion.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/BSc) or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience working with large EPCM companies.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering standards and construction processes.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Ability to interpret and develop technical drawings, P&IDs, mechanical layouts, and datasheets.
- Experience working on multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Support the mechanical engineering scope throughout all project phases—from concept, FEED, and detailed design through construction and commissioning.
- Prepare mechanical engineering deliverables such as calculations, specifications, datasheets, and design reports.
- Review vendor documentation and evaluate equipment to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure alignment of technical work.
- Provide mechanical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and technical assessments when required.
- Contribute input to project schedules, cost estimates, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all mechanical engineering work complies with relevant industry standards and internal quality requirements.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to ensure informed and timely decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in the development of internal engineering best practices.
