The Role
You Will Be Responsible For
- Developing intellectual property through research and development of mechanical applications and sellable equipment related to bulk materials handling and the agricultural industry.
- Conducting feasibility and analytical studies, investigating new technologies and conceptual designs.
- Proficient in stress analysis, heat transfer, design for manufacture, and material strength analysis.
- Creating drawings in SolidWorks, including layout and detailing.
- Ensuring designs are fit for purpose, meet client requirements, and are cost-effective and manufacturable.
- Understanding manufacturing practices to produce clear, comprehensive drawings for fabricators.
- Conducting technical evaluations of tenders and providing recommendations on designs, costs, and technical descriptions.
- Managing projects from concept to implementation, including total turnkey projects.
- Reviewing operational practices and troubleshooting problematic systems to develop practical solutions.
- Providing integrated mechanical and electronic engineering solutions, liaising with all disciplines to meet user requirements.
- Using engineering calculations and software to verify designs, including flow dynamics, discrete element modeling, and strength of materials; documenting results in reports.
- Preparing documentation for material handling equipment, including data sheets, specifications, and scope of works for procurement.
- Managing information related to product development, drawings, intellectual property, and documentation.
- Assisting in sourcing components and selecting suppliers, coordinating with them on drawings and documents.
- Liaising with third-party engineering consultants for specialized solutions.
- Organizing personnel, suppliers, and consultants to ensure timely project delivery with minimal rework.
- Reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Preparing progress reports and payment certificates.
- Staying updated on developments in the bulk materials handling and agricultural industries.
- Conducting site visits, supervision, commissioning, and inspections as required.
- Following company procedures.
Ideal Profile- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role within industrial and utility sectors.
