Job description
Mechanical Engineer (Designer)

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Designer) to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who can hit the ground running, enjoys problem solving, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

You will play a key role in designing, modeling, and developing solutions in SolidWorks, while also supporting project management activities. We specialize in materials handling equipment and heavy steel design, with a diverse client base.

Our strength lies in handling large assemblies and complex data management using SolidWorks and PDM.

This position offers significant growth potential into client-facing responsibilities, project leadership, and eventually taking ownership of managing both projects and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and develop detailed SolidWorks CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
  • Work with the engineering team to solve mechanical and structural design challenges.
  • Assist in setting up project requirements, scopes, and schedules.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure designs meet technical, manufacturing, and client requirements.
  • Support project management tasks including delegation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Participate in site visits, installations, and commissioning when required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in design workflows, CAD standards, and data management in PDM.
  • Be eager to grow into client‑facing responsibilities: gathering requirements, managing projects, and leading a team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 2–4 years' experience in mechanical design, preferably in heavy steel or materials handling.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (assemblies, sheet metal, weldments).
  • Experience with PDM or similar data management systems.
  • Exposure to structural or mechanical analysis (FEA, empirical methods) is an advantage.
  • Hands‑on experience with fabricated steel structures or mining/logistics machinery is a plus.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and a strong desire to learn.
