Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a skilled inventory management professional in Gqeberha, South Africa. The ideal candidate will have a National Diploma or Degree in Logistics, at least 3 years of experience in the automotive industry, and proficiency in SAP systems. Requirements
  • National Diploma or Degree in Logistics / Purchasing / Materials / Inventory Management
  • Minimum of 3 years Materials/Inventory related experience in the Automotive Industry
  • 1-2 years’ SAP Systems experience, R3 production, controlled Warehousing environment
  • Basic understanding of the logistics concept and production systems
  • Computer literacy i.e. Microsoft Office Package (Excel advanced & PowerPoint advanced)
Possible Tasks within this Role
  • Controlling inventory namely; shortages, surplus, potential obsolescence and production run out.
  • Ordering parts and determine best possible solution to part shortage problems.
  • Managing Engineering Changes.
  • Controlling the budget of key performance items i.e. airfreight costs, SV costs, road haulage costs, inventory value management and claims management.
  • Analyzing daily critical parts report in order to identify potential production shortages.
  • Initiating stock count requests against parts which have not been recently stock counted and/or where stock base appears incorrect.
  • Analyzing packing data files in order to ensure that stock receipts are in accordance with CKD order volumes.
  • Calculating stock balancing quantities and place SV stock replenishment orders with consideration of airfreight costs.
  • Liaising and following up with expeditors in order to ensure that stock for Production arrives on time.
  • Liaising with the Logistics service provider and Expediting Officer in order to expedite containers timeously.
  • Identifying potential obsolete stock and initiate deviations through Product Engineering in order to exhaust surplus stock.
  • Monitoring and controlling stock movement against run out ECR in order to minimize obsolescence.
  • Ensure accurate and stable forecasting of volumes that will be released via the VDA on the day of transmission.
