We are looking for a proactive and organised individual to support the Marketing & Sponsorship Manager in all aspects of marketing, communications, and event coordination. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in marketing, PR, social media, website management, and membership growth initiatives. Position is based in Cape Town.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Sailing Manager with designing promotional materials such as posters, flyers, invites, and social media content for events.
  • Coordinate with photographers and videographers to ensure key events are captured, stored, and archived correctly, including drafting agreements and managing timelines for social media, newsletters, and the website.
  • Maintain accurate filing, labelling, and storage of photographs.
  • Manage the weekly newsletter, including design, content sourcing, editing, scheduling, and publication, ensuring content aligns with the brand and is relevant to members.
  • Source new and relevant stories and photographs for the newsletter as needed.
  • Collaborate with the website editor and Marketing Manager to update the website with sailing results, photographs, event information, and online booking functionality.
  • Monitor and maintain the website, ensuring content is accurate, up-to-date, and visually appealing.
  • Manage social media channels (Facebook, Instagram), covering sailing events and Club activities with relevant photos, videos, and content.
  • Plan and implement social media and marketing strategies in coordination with the Marketing Manager.
  • Publish timely posts following sailing events, including results, highlight photographs, and engaging content, ensuring updates are reflected on the website and linked to social media.
  • Assist with the annual magazine, working with the GM and publisher to structure content, source stories, and gather photographs.
  • Ensure all event trophies are present, engraved after events, correctly labelled, and returned to their designated cabinets, maintaining accurate records to prevent unauthorised removal.
  • Support the Marketing and Sponsorship Manager and Sailing Manager in maintaining sponsor relationships, fulfilling agreements, sourcing product sponsors, and preparing media statistics for sponsorship reporting.
Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Marketing,Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong skills in social media management,content creation, and newsletter production.
  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Canva,Adobe Creative Suite) for creating promotional materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicationskills.
