Our NPO is looking for a Marketing & Communications Assistant to support and enhance our marketing team’s efforts. This role will help expand our outreach, strengthen our brand presence, and ensure consistent communication across all platforms.

Role Description

This is a contract, on-site role for a Marketing & Communications Assistant based in Durban. The role involves supporting the marketing and communication strategies by assisting with the development and distribution of press releases, coordinating internal communications, and crafting clear and effective written content. Daily tasks may include managing communication workflows, collaborating with team members to ensure alignment with strategic goals, and assisting with other communication-related initiatives as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Capture photos, videos, and interviews at project sites.
  • Create and edit engaging social media content (posts, reels, stories).
  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies.
  • Design posters, flyers, and other branded materials.
  • Write and distribute newsletters and partner updates.
  • Coordinate media coverage and newspaper articles.
  • Plan and support community events and launches.
  • Manage and schedule social media content.
  • Update and maintain the website.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, or Design (Advantageous but not a firm requirement).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in marketing, communications, or content creation.
  • Proficiency in Canva, social media management, and basic video editing.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Passion for storytelling and community impact.
Additional skills (advantageous)

Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, event coordination, or branding strategy.

Details

Based in Durban, office-based with flexible working hours.

One-year contract, renewable.

Start date: As soon as possible.
