The Opportunity

As a Managing Consultant, you will be responsible for delivering all or part of a commission, ensuring technical quality, commercial performance and strong client satisfaction throughout. Working closely with senior team members, you will contribute to the success of each engagement while building trusted client relationships and strengthening HKA’s presence in the market.

You will play a key role in our delivery by:
  • Producing high‑quality technical outputs within defined areas of specialism, ensuring accuracy, clarity and professional excellence.
  • Executing commission management responsibilities, aligning with HKA standards and supporting commercial, quality and client outcomes.
  • Owning your professional development, seeking opportunities to expand your technical and consulting capability.
  • Building positive and credible relationships with clients, acting as a reliable point of contact and contributing to long‑term trust.
  • Supporting business development initiatives, including involvement in bids and proposals, representing HKA at networking events and acting as a brand ambassador through the quality of your work and engagement.
  • Understanding and managing project risks, demonstrating awareness of commercial considerations and applying sound judgement.
  • Assisting experts in the formulation and testing of opinions within defined specialist areas (where applicable).
Skills & Experience
  • A relevant technical qualification (degree or equivalent), or a certificate of higher education.
  • A relevant postgraduate technical qualification (preferred).
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the engineering and construction industry or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting or managing client commissions (preferred).
  • Expertise in a specific technical discipline—such as scheduling, cost analysis, contract administration or a defined subject‑matter specialism.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (desired).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, commercial awareness and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A responsible, professional approach and strong stakeholder‑management capability.
